Big wins for Chester County: millions secured for housing support, families awarded justice, community efforts to prevent fraud, climate-wise buying trends, summer tours, concerts, and a chance to give back through “80 for 80”
Local Events
Pathways to Freedom
What: An intimate, small-group walking tour of about 1.25 miles through downtown West Chester, visiting eight historic sites that served as stations, operated by conductors and supporters of the Underground Railroad
When & Where: Offered regularly through mid-summer at the Chester County History Center; tours last roughly 90 minutes and take place rain or shine
Masterworks 3: Fiesta
A fiery musical celebration featuring works by Gabriella Ortiz, Manuel de Falla, Alberto Ginastera, Arturo Piazzolla, and selections from Bizet’s Carmen, with guitar virtuoso Ana Vidovic performing Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez.

80 Years of Impact
In celebration of their 80th anniversary, United Way of Southern Chester County is launching the “80 for 80” campaign, inviting community members to donate just $80—enough to provide dinner for 100 students, one mental health therapy session, or daily lunch for all students at local schools
This heartfelt initiative supports vital health, education, and financial stability services across southern Chester County, continuing a legacy of unity and care.

Philadelphia ranks no. 9 among the 50 largest U.S. cities for new downtown apartments as of January 2025, according to a report by RentCafe. Outpacing most major cities, the city has also seen more new downtown apartments than any other major city in the Northeast.
Over the past five years, 8,271 new apartments have been added to downtown Philly, significantly exceeding other Northeast locations like Boston (3,928 units) and Manhattan (1,982 units).
Of those new apartments, 58.3% are located downtown. Additionally, so far this decade, 16.2% of downtown Philly units have been added through adaptive reuse, making the city one of the nation’s leaders in conversions.
